In this article, we&#8217;ll introduce you to two villages that are well worth a visit: Aups and Barjols!  <\/p><div class=\"columns\"><div class=\"columns__item\"><h2>The village of Aups<\/h2><p>This <strong>village in Haute Provence<\/strong> is the capital of <strong>black truffles<\/strong>. It&#8217;s also <strong>not far from Lac de Sainte-Croix<\/strong> and the <strong>Gorges du Verdon<\/strong>. <\/p><p>Its <strong>architecture<\/strong> is <strong>steeped in<\/strong> <strong>history<\/strong> and its <strong>terroir<\/strong> abounds with <strong>authentic<\/strong> <strong>products<\/strong>: saffron, honey, virgin olive oil, goat&#8217;s cheese, wine and much more!<\/p><p>Aups has <strong>been a fairground since the Middle Ages<\/strong>. So you can enjoy <strong>two unusual markets<\/strong>: on <strong>Wednesday<\/strong> and <strong>Saturday mornings<\/strong>. The <strong>truffle market<\/strong> opened in <strong>early December and will run until the end of March<\/strong>! It&#8217;s the <strong>biggest market in the Var<\/strong>.  <\/p><p>This <strong>village of character<\/strong> offers unparalleled architecture. This <strong>natural site<\/strong> is <strong>accessible from the top of the village<\/strong>. You can&#8217;t help but marvel at the spectacle: <strong>a succession of waterfalls, fords and cascades<\/strong> of all kinds!  <\/p><p>Next, <strong>visit the tanneries<\/strong> that have been in the village since the 1950s. <strong>Restored by the town<\/strong>, they are gradually being <strong>rehabilitated<\/strong>. Finally, visit the <strong>11th-century<\/strong> <strong>Collegiate Church<\/strong>, a <strong>listed monument<\/strong>. <\/p><p>Visit the <strong>village of Barjols<\/strong> and you&#8217;ll discover a <strong>rich<\/strong> <strong>religious history<\/strong>. It&#8217;s here that <strong>Saint Marcel<\/strong>&#8216;s Day is celebrated <strong>, on the Sunday closest to January 17<\/strong>.
