La Capte

La Capte is one of the 14 districts of Hyères, in southeastern France, east of Toulon. Toulon is a city in southeastern France. The village is located in the Var department of the Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur region.

The local population is known as Captois. The town is famous for its airport, port and Fondue Tower. The latter is the departure point for the Hyères islands. The village abounds in pine, mimosa, agave and eucalyptus trees. It is in fact a small seaside resort of 102 ha with 600 inhabitants.

La Capte is a small seaside resort or village spread over an area of 102 hectares. It is located in one of Hyères’ 14 districts. The hamlet of La Capte is located on the Giens peninsula, 5 km from the Clair de Lune campsite in Hyères. The hamlet takes its name from the seawater catchment canal. It was used during the salt industry. Today, more than half the hamlet is urbanized.

La Capte: beaches and entertainment

La Capte is famous for its 4 km-long sandy beach. The water is shallow, so every member of the family can enjoy it to the full. The beach of the Capte pine forest extends over 20 ha.

It is classified as a “Natural Zone of Ecological, Faunistic and Floristic Interest” (ZNIEFF). In addition to its beaches, La Capte boasts a number of shops in the village center and a harbor that welcomes hundreds of boats throughout the year.

Don’t hesitate to visit the Provencal market at La Capte, with its hundred or so stalls. Here, you’ll find local culinary products and handicrafts. Every Sunday, the Capte hosts a flea market. Hyères is renowned for its spas and thalassotherapy.

Camping Clair de Lune was the first establishment to open a private spa in Giens, a stone’s throw from Capte Hyères. Today, it’s easy to find spa facilities in the region from the Var campsite by the sea.
