Olbia’s archaeological underwater trail

Come and discover France’s only historic marine site : Olbia’s underwater trail. A real journey back in time, with plenty of anecdotes to tell!

From the surface of the water to a depth of around 5 m, explore the ruins of a past civilization in the Bay of Almanarre .

All along the path are ancient structures, including the wreck of a tartane (19th century). To discover it, you don’t need to go very far down, as it’s only 3 m deep.

What’s more, on this unique underwater site in France, which is home to several species of fish, submerged panels are installed along the trail, to accompany you throughout the expedition.

The Palud underwater trail, Port-Cros

The La Palud underwater trail in Port-Cros is about half an hour from the port. Follow the path to La Palud beach and discover a magnificent trail accessible to divers with Level 1 certification.

The shallow depth of this path (maximum 10 m) gives you a breathtaking view of the flora and fauna characteristic of the Mediterranean coast (sea bream, sars, mullets, posidonia…).

This underwater escapade lasts around 40 minutes and features 6 buoys accompanied by information panels. These guide you along this exceptional 200 m underwater trail.

The Tour Fondue underwater trail

The Tour Fondue underwater trail is located just off Bouvet beach. During this underwater walk, you’ll appreciate the ruins to be discovered, including the reconstruction of a Roman shipwreck built by archaeologists. This is accompanied by real amphorae discovered on the Madrague site, at a depth of around 6 m.

Like the previous trails, explanatory signs are immersed in the water to tell you more about the fauna, flora and hidden treasures to be discovered along the way.
