The beaches of the Giens peninsula

If for you vacations mean sun, azure seas and beaches, then the Giens peninsula is the place for you! In fact, some of France’s most beautiful beaches can be found all around your Presquîle de Giens campsite. You don’t need to go to the ends of the earth to enjoy a heavenly seascape, just head for the Var, a stone’s throw from the town of Hyères.

Whether you’re looking for a supervised sandy beach for a relaxing day out with the whole family, or a wild beach where you can enjoy a romantic sunset, you’re sure to find what you’re looking for on one of the many beaches of the Giens peninsula and theIle de Porquerolles.

The most beautiful beaches on the Giens peninsula

Of course, each of the 20 beaches that make up the Giens peninsula has its own beauty. Nevertheless, we have selected 5 not to be missed:

  • La plage de l’Almanarre: almost 5 km long, this magnificent strip of fine sand on the Route du Sel welcomes the whole family. What’s more, its mistral wind makes it an ideal spot for board sports.
  • La Vignette beach: this beach is a little special in that it has been entirely designed for people with reduced mobility. Wheelchair users can dive from the pontoon.
  • Plage Bona: located next to Port Saint-Pierre, offers a lovely view of the pleasure boats coming and going.
  • Pradeau beach: you’d think you were in the tropics from here! What’s more, this white-sand beach is perfectly sheltered from the wind.
  • Plage des Salins: with its many beach restaurants and a special area for naturists.

Things to do on the beaches of Giens

The beach is the ideal place to relax. Stretched out on a towel, a book in hand, it’s great to let the sun caress you. But the beach isn’t always synonymous with sunbathing! In fact, there are many activities you can enjoy on your own or with family and friends.

First of all, there are the water sports. The beaches of the Giens peninsula to the west are ideal for surfing, kitesurfing or windsurfing. The Mistral wind creates superb waves and carries the sails away. Offshore, you can also go sailing, kayaking, water-skiing or windsurfing.

Also off the coast of Giens, divers will delight in discovering the Mediterranean seabed. The marine flora and fauna are absolutely sublime. Diving in one of the preserved sites, you’ll have the chance to admire numerous species of fish, and for the more experienced, you can descend to shipwrecks.

Finally, young and old alike can have fun all day long on one of the many fine sandy beaches of the Giens peninsula. Sand castles, volleyball, racket games, swimming and more. There’s something for everyone!
