Discover Ile du Levant
Along with Port-Cros and Porquerolles,Ile du Levant is part of the Iles d’Hyères archipelago, also known as the Iles d’Or, one of the most beautiful natural areas in the Var and Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur regions, and a must for tourism in Hyères. This 10 km2 stretch of land is best known for its wild coastline and naturist beaches. Maritime shuttles connect the Port de l’Ayguade with the Port Saint-Pierre in Hyères and Le Lavandou (between 1h00 and 1h30 crossing time). It’s a paradise for swimming and scuba-diving with dolphins along the sandy beaches of the Mediterranean Sea.
100% nature trails and sunsets
Arriving at the port of l’Ayguade on the Ile du Levant, take the small path leading to the village.
The Val d’Ayguade trail is unmarked and has retained its authentic charm. There’s no electricity or major infrastructure in the village. Just a few houses and a chapel, a town hall, a post office and a few shops to supply the hundred or so inhabitants and passing travelers.
As for its name, it has an explanation as simple as it is romantic: Ile du Levant was so named because the sunsets seen from its beaches are said to be unique. Follow the coastal path and discover the calanques of the islands of Porquerolles, Saint Tropez and Saint Raphaël.

Naturism paradise
Ile du Levant is a very popular destination for naturists, and one of the best places in the south of France to practice this activity far from the beaten track and the gaze of others. Heliopolis, created by two brothers in 1931, was the first naturist site in the Mediterranean. Naturism is permitted or tolerated throughout the island, except in the village, on the harbor and in public places.
Domaine des Arbousiers
Île du Levant is home to some remarkable ecosystems, including some of Europe’s finest arbutus trees. You’ll recognize them by their reddish bark and small, circular red fruits, characteristic of the garrigue. The Domaine des Arbousiers is a 20-hectare area that has been protected as a voluntary nature reserve since 1993. Come and discover them on your vacation at one of our campsites in the Var.
