Where to Find Our 3 Campsites on the Giens Peninsula
Giens is a narrow peninsula, so our three addresses sit close together without being side by side. Camping International stands 50 metres from the Almanarre bay and Clair de Lune lies 400 metres from it, both on the western side. L’Île d’Or sits on the eastern side, 400 metres from Badine beach. Choose the bay if wind and water sports fill your week, the Badine side if you want shallow water for young children.

By car, Toulon-Hyères airport is about 15 minutes away and Hyères train station 15 to 20 minutes. Count roughly 35 minutes from Toulon station, 1 h 30 from Marseille airport and 1 h 50 from Nice airport. Allow extra time in July and August.

Where You Sleep, from Canvas to Sea View
Sleeping arrangements change the whole holiday, so we keep the choice wide. Camping International alone counts 55 pitches, 1 villa, 16 apartments and 92 mobile homes, 14 of them fitted with a private jacuzzi.
Clair de Lune hides 2 unusual stays among its 18 apartments and 34 mobile homes : a raised tent and a lodge tent. L’Île d’Or keeps things simple with 90 shaded pitches and 63 mobile homes. Electricity and sanitary access come with every pitch, and our accommodation options along the coast suit couples, families and groups alike.
- 92 mobile homes
- 55 pitches
- 16 apartments
- 14 private jacuzzis

Heated Pool, Spa and Fitness Room
Swimming carries on well outside July and August, since the pool at Camping International is heated and open all year. Aphrodite Spa, on the same site since 2012, handles massages and wellness treatments, while a weights room and a beach volleyball court cover the sportier mornings.
Clair de Lune guests use the pool outside bank holidays, French school holidays, July and August. Children get a mini club, play areas and sports activities in summer at our family campsite by the sea.
Our experience on site : some habits say more than any brochure. Czech groups have booked pitches at L’Île d’Or for almost 20 years, and French retirees meet there every season around the pétanque court. At Camping International, several German guests, now retired, settle in from November to March and treat the winter peninsula as their second home.
Windsurfing, Kitesurfing and Diving at the Water’s Edge
Almanarre bay draws windsurfers and kitesurfers from across Europe. Our campsite by the Almanarre beach faces the launch point directly, so a board goes from pitch to water in 2 minutes. Three teams share the site :

Spinout
Our watersports base, organises sea outings and board sessions on the bay.

Divin’Giens
The diving school led by instructor Gigi, explores the seabed around the peninsula.

Bike hire
Our bike hire desk lends mountain and electric models for the coastal path.
Beaches, Islands and Markets Within Reach
Sea, heritage and Provençal markets sit within a few kilometres of your pitch. Here is what fills a week :

400 m from L’Île d’Or
Ferry from the peninsula tip

What our guests say
“Very friendly campsite. Ideally located, human-sized and very pleasant. Very clean, pleasant and modern toilet blocks. Great pool with enough sun loungers for everyone.”Mathilde M., stayed in July · Google review, translated from French
“Our third stay with my wife and daughter was, as usual, very pleasant. A very clean and comfortable mobile home with a magnificent view of the Almanarre, under a pine grove filled with the song of cicadas. Camping Clair de Lune is a safe bet for anyone looking for a quiet, comfortable place on a human scale.”Joss G., stayed in July · Google review, translated from French
“We had an excellent stay at this campsite. We spent a week in June, in the shade of the eucalyptus trees, lulled by the song of the cicadas. The many birds add a very pleasant touch of life.”Manu M., stayed in June · Google review, translated from French

Almanarre beach lies 50 metres from Camping International Village Sport and Spa, with the launch point directly opposite the site. From Camping Clair de Lune, count around 400 metres to the bay. Guests at L’Île d’Or reach Badine beach, also 400 metres away, one of the calmest seaside spots for young children.
Is the swimming pool heated?
Yes, the swimming pool at Camping International is heated and stays open outside the high season, so the water suits early spring and late autumn stays. Clair de Lune guests swim there outside bank holidays, French school holidays, July and August. A children’s pool and sun loungers sit beside the main basin.
What accommodation is available by the sea?
Our 4 stars sites offer villas, apartments and mobile homes, several with a private jacuzzi: 14 mobile homes and 2 apartments at Camping International, 9 mobile homes and 1 apartment at Clair de Lune. L’Île d’Or, rated 3 stars, focuses on mobile homes and pitches, a short walk from the beach.
Are pitches available for tents, caravans and motorhomes?
Yes, 145 pitches welcome tents, caravans and motorhomes across the Var: 55 at Camping International and 90 at L’Île d’Or. Each pitch comes with electricity and sanitary access, and Camping International adds a motorhome waste disposal service for travellers touring the coast.
What activities can families enjoy in July and August?
In July and August, families enjoy sports activities and a mini club at Camping International, sea outings with the Spinout watersports base and dives with Divin’Giens. How do you reach Porquerolles or Hyères town centre?
Ferries to Porquerolles leave from the tip of the Giens peninsula, a few minutes away by car or bike. Hyères town centre, on the eastern Côte d’Azur, is a short drive or bus ride. Bike hire at Camping International also makes the village of Giens and the coastal path easy to reach.
What is the weather like on the Giens peninsula?
The peninsula enjoys a Mediterranean climate, with mild winters and hot, dry summers cooled by the sea breeze. That breeze explains the reputation of Almanarre bay among windsurfers, and it keeps the beaches pleasant well into September, when the water is still warm.
Are the campsites open all year?
Only Camping International Village Sport and Spa opens all year for a stay or a long-term rental. Camping Clair de Lune welcomes guests from late March to November, and L’Île d’Or from May to September.
