Today, we’re delighted to (re)introduce you to the most beautiful harbor in Europe, according to Vauban: the Toulon harbor. A magnificent site to visit with the whole family, just twenty kilometers from the campsite. On foot, by boat or by train, the choice is yours! 📸
A brief overview
If you’ve had the chance to take a walk on Mont Faron (see our article last month), you’ll have had the pleasure of admiring Toulon’s beautiful harbor from up there. The people of Toulon are very proud of it. They could show you around with their eyes closed.
The Petite Rade is home to the Tour Royale and its landscaped park, the Corniche de Tamaris and the Baie du Lazaret with its stilted cabins and mussel beds.
If you know the beaches of Mourillon or Anse Méjean, then you know the Grande Rade.
The Rade de Toulon is also home to the incredible military port and Arsenal. Here you’ll find some thirty Force d’Action Navale vessels, including the aircraft carrier Charles-de-Gaulle.
