The Golden Isles: Porquerolles, Port-Cros and Le Levant
There are three of them. They are part of the richness of the Hyeres coastline, attracting large numbers of tourists every year. They are steeped in history and offer a wealth of hiking opportunities all year round.
Porquerolles
Porquerolles is the largest of the three islands. It has the most beautiful beaches. You can discover it on foot or, for the more sporty among you, by bike. Activities vary according to the season. In summer, you can go jetskiing, paddleboarding or boating. Diving is available all year round, and there’s a beautiful seabed to discover. The paths will take you to beautiful little spots for you to marvel at. Go to the Tour Fondue pier to take the boat. Departures are daily all year round.
Port-Cros
The island of Port-Cros is a paradise for underwater flora and fauna. It is Europe’s first national park. The island measures 10 km2 and is the smallest in the archipelago, but also the wildest and most mountainous. Because of its steep cliffs, the island offers few beaches. During the reign of François1er, forts were erected on the island, making it one of the most architecturally rich islands in the world. Port-Cros is a true natural sanctuary in terms of the beauty of its landscapes and the richness of its flora and fauna.
Le Levant
Ile du Levant is a paradise for naturists. It lies to the east of the îles d’Hyères archipelago and extends over 8 km. Covered by an abundance of vegetation, it abounds in arbutus trees, the most beautiful in Mediterranean Europe.
You’ll be able to enjoy a range of sporting activities on marked trails. On the Grottes beach, full naturism is practiced. The waters are exceptionally clear. The seabed is rich in flora and fauna, making for breathtaking diving sessions.
