The village of Correns, one of the Var’s forgotten villages.

Have you heard of France’s first organic village? Correns is a village in the Var known for its organic farming. It’s surrounded by fields of vines and aromatic plants. It is also home to hens, goats and beehives. The Argens river flows through the commune. The banks of Correns are home to many pretty houses, as well as a number of treasures to discover. Discover it from one of our nearby Var campsites!

Fort Gibron

Now restored as a cultural center, Fort Gibron was once an abbey residence dating back to the 12th century. This Baroque-style medieval monument contains a magnificent altarpiece. It was restored in 2008 and now hosts exhibitions and cultural events. The Fort features exhibition rooms, an inner courtyard, meeting rooms and the remains of a keep. All around is the village of today, paved with narrow cobblestone streets. The village’s name comes from the Provençal word for frost and ice. Visits to the fort are free of charge.
