The island of Port-Cros and its natural wealth

The town of Hyères offers an ever-increasing variety of splendid places and landscapes. Port-Cros Island is one of them!

Also known as “the pearl of the Golden Isles” and located around 30 minutes by boat from the campsite, Port-Cros is the most unspoilt and wildest of the three Hyères islands: Port-Cros, Ile du Levant and Porquerolles. With its extraordinary flora and fauna, nature lovers can’t help but admire this natural wealth.

We’ve selected a few activities and places for you to discover for a complete change of scenery!

THE BEACHES

South Beach

Around 30 minutes away is the Plage du Sud, the closest beach to the port. Every year, this is Port-Cros’ busiest seafront, offering a breathtaking view of a magnificent blend of colors and the Pointe de la Malalongue.

The perfect place to take a break and enjoy a moment of gentle relaxation.

La Palud beach

La Palud beach can be reached in around 45 minutes from the village of Port-Cros. Lightly shaded and bordered by a reedbed, it’s the perfect spot for a short lunch break.

It’s also the starting point for an underwater trail. Pull out your flippers and snorkels and embark on a 30-minute hike off the coast to discover the underwater flora and fauna. Let yourself be amazed by this natural wealth!

Port Man beach

Port Man beach is the furthest from the village of Port-Cros, but still the largest. Only a 2-hour walk away, it features a bay that provides protection from the mistral wind.

Thanks to its fort at the tip of the island and its pontoon in the middle of translucent water, this is a place of natural charm!

THE STRENGTHS

Fort de l’Estissac

Fort de l’Estissac, about a 45-minute walk from the port, is one of Port-Cros’s landmarks. If you have the chance to visit it on your next visit to the island, make the most of it, as it’s a monument steeped in history!

Listed in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments, it dominates the north of the island of Port-Cros and boasts an incredible view of the Hyères harbor.

During the summer vacations, you can enjoy a wide range of guided tours. Tours depart from the Maison de Parc. The Fort de l’Estissac also hosts a free exhibition.
