The Var is a popular vacation destination all year round.

In summer and winter alike, the Var is an ideal region for walks and hikes: part sea, part forest, there’s a multitude of landscapes to escape to under the Mediterranean sun and the song of the cicadas.

Here’s a short guide to some of the Var’s most unusual walks and places to visit during your next stay here. On your marks, get set, explore!

Our selection of three original hikes in the Var

Located just over an hour from the campsite, La cascade du Grand Baou in Brignoles

The Var is more famous for its beaches than for its rivers and waterfalls, yet the region is brimming with wonderful places to discover!

Discover the Grand Baoue waterfall, a truly magical place just an hour from the campsite. Set in an unspoilt natural area, you’re sure to enjoy a change of scenery!

Whether with family or friends, this walk in the commune of Le Val is accessible to all. Getting to the bathing area is easy: a ten-metre path links the parking lot to the area.

Here you can admire a grotto and rocks.

Don’t forget your shoes: there are many different water crossings depending on the season.

When you reach the foot of the jets, you can take a dip in the clear waters. In summer, the temperature is around 18° C to 20° C (ideal for cooling off). For children, don’t panic: small basins are available.

How do I get to the waterfall?

First, head towards Brignoles, in the direction of Carcès. Then head for Carcès at the junction between Correns and Carcès. Turn left after the junction. Drive about 100 m and park.

An original family outing: consider the Vélorail de la Sainte-Baume (Pourcieux)

Discover the third original ride that’s a must for your next stay in the Var. The concept is quite unusual: you have to drive a pedal-powered train located on an old railroad track!
