A walk between land and sea
Have you heard of the Route du Sel? This 4 km road links l’Almanarre (Hyères) to the Giens peninsula. It is located on the western slope of the double tombolo and runs alongside the Pesquiers salt marsh. From November to April, this route is once again the domain of pedestrians. It offers simple but beautiful views of the sea on one side and the salt marshes on the other. The salt marshes have been inactive since 1995, but are home to exceptional flora and fauna.
From the observatory, you can admire pink flamingos, egrets, herons… as well as sea lilies, orchids… For many years now, the Hyero town council has been pursuing a policy of safeguarding and rehabilitating this natural area.
As well as its natural beauty, the Route du Sel is also the ideal place for more athletic walks!

From November 8, the Route du Sel will once again be a place for strolling, relaxation and leisure. Cycling, rollerblading, walking, running… the choice is yours!
